Buccaneers All Over The Place In Power Rankings

Some places are giving the Bucs their due. Others still haven't been made believers.
Transcript

The sports world is starting to take notice of the Buccaneers - and as well they should. Short-handed and in one of the most hostile environments in the NFL, the Bucs are coming off a huge road win over the Detroit Lions. The same Lions that many pegged as the second best team in the NFC this season and a Super Bowl contender.

Now, the Bucs start the season off 2-0 and many - not all - are starting to give them their due.

Surprisingly, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk has been one of the Bucs’ biggest backers all off-season and said that the Bucs “can’t hide any longer” when dropping his latest power rankings that has the Bucs at number three overall and the top team in the NFC;

However, Florio isn’t the only one giving the Bucs their due as the NFL on FOX and Yahoo! have the Bucs in their top ten and BigCat from Barstool has them as Super Bowl contenders;

That said, not everyone is buying in. On the NFL Network’s show “The Insiders,” the crew didn’t have the Bucs in the top ten, trailing NFC teams like the New Orleans Saints, Philadelphia Eagles, and the Detroit Lions, who the Bucs just beat.

At NFL.com, Eric Edholm has the Bucs at 12, trailing teams like the Saints, Eagles, Lions, Los Angeles Chargers, Green Bay Packers, Dallas Cowboys, and Baltimore Ravens. Edholm said;

“Despite playing with a secondary ravaged by injuries, the Bucs went into Detroit and won an ugly brawl, even with the Lions more than doubling them in yards gained. That counts for a lot in my book.”

Worth a lot in your book, but not enough to have them in the top ten? Yikes.

Look, the Bucs proved that they can hang with the toughest of teams and they have an upcoming stretch where they can prove that over and over again. Philly, Atlanta on a short week, New Orleans, Baltimore, Atlanta again, Kansas City, and San Fran. That’s quite the gauntlet.

Maybe some of these “still doubters” will put some respect on their name during that stretch.
