Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Detroit Lions: Week 2 Inactives

The Bucs and Lions are both missing some key players this week as they face off for the third time in eleven months
Transcript

The Buccaneers are still banged up and will be without some key players for the second straight week to open the 2024 season. Last week against the Commanders, the Bucs went in without three defensive linemen then lost three cornerbacks during the game before seeing Antoine Winfield Jr get injured at the very end. This week, their injury problems didn't get any better.

Now, the Bucs did get some good news on Saturday as cornerback Zyon McCollum cleared concussion protocol and will play but, in exchange, right tackle Luke Goedeke is still dealing with a concussion of his own and will not play. Justin Skule will replace him as the starting right tackle.

For the Lions, they are going to be without safety Ifeti Melifonwu, wide receiver Isaiah Williams, and defensive lineman Marcus Davenport. Wide receiver Jameson Williams was listed as questionable with an ankle injury, but he will play this week/

The other big name for the Lions was Penei Sewell. He missed practice on Wednesday and Thursday with an ankle injury and was limited in practice Friday. While he is playing, this is his second ankle injury already and is high risk to re-aggravate that issue.

The Bucs once again elevated defensive linemen C.J. Brewer and Mike Greene for this game as they are without Calijah Kancey and Logan Hall was questionable coming into the day. They also re-signed cornerback Keenan Isaac to help with the depleted depth at cornerback and we will likely see the NFL debut of undrafted rookie Tyrek Funderburk who was inactive last week.
