Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Practice Squad Complete

The Buccaneers keep three wide receivers, bring in quarterback for the practice squad.
Transcript

After the 53-man roster comes the practice squad where the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been meticulous in the way they selected players. With the ability to call players up to the active roster six times before having to make them full time additions, Jason Licht was able to go with just five wide receivers and three running backs in favor of having deeper positions elsewhere.

The practice squad is as follows:

QB - Michael Pratt

RB - DJ Williams

WR - Sterling Shepard

WR - Cody Thompson

WR - Ryan Miller

TE - Tanner Taula

OL - Avery Jones

OL - Luke Haggard

OL - Lorenz Metz

DL - C.J. Brewer

DL - Mike Greene

LB - Antonio Grier Jr

LB - Vi Jones

OLB - Daniel Grzesiak

S - Rashad Wisdom

S - Marcus Banks

P - Seth Vernon

Sterling Shepard, who has a history with quarterback Baker Mayfield, battled through injury for much of training camp and the preseason, but took an open spot on the practice squad in hopes of making a similar impact as David Moore last season. Moore, who started the year on the practice squad after following Dave Canales from Seattle, played in seven games for the Bucs. He finished with five receptions for 94 yards and a touchdown during the regular season and had two receptions for 66 yards and a touchdown against the Eagles in the postseason.

Along the offensive line, the Bucs went with one player in Jones that can play across the interior as well as a tackle in Haggard - covering all bases across the five offensive line positions.

Finally, the most interesting addition is quarterback Michael Pratt who was released by the Green bay Packers. Pratt was taken at the end of the NFL draft and was a player the Bucs were hoping to get as an undrafted free agent. Now they may wind up with their future backup to Mayfield if Kyle Trask decides to go elsewhere as a free agent and it won’t cost them draft capital or any extra money against the cap - plus a full year under Liam Coen and learning his offense will be an added bonus.
