Zyon McCollum Clears Protocol, Will Start Sunday

The Bucs get one of their defensive starters back this week against the Lions
Transcript

Zyon McCollum has officially cleared concussion protocol and will get the start Sunday in Detroit when the Bucs take on the Lions. McCollum suffered a concussion in the first half against the Washington Commanders last week, but is now good to go, helping out a beaten up Buccaneers secondary;

In addition to McCollum being cleared, the Bucs also elevated defensive linemen C.J. Brewer and Mike Greene for the second consecutive week. Calijah Kancey will miss his second straight game and there's still no word on Logan Hall's status for this week. Hall practiced all week including full participation on Thursday and Friday, though head coach Todd Bowles said they weren't going to declare whether he was in or out just yet, saying "We'll see how he is (Saturday)."

McCollum will now give the Bucs' defense a little more confidence as they get set to face Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. St. Brown had a quiet week one against the Rams, finishing with just three receptions for thirteen yards while Williams went off for 121 yards and a touchdown on five receptions. Without Antoine Winfield Jr. on the field, the Bucs' secondary was already going to have a difficult time against these receivers. Now, they get their starter back ahead of one of the top games of the week.

The Bucs and Lions will kick off inside Ford Field at 1:00 p.m. ET with the game broadcast on FOX. Kevin Kugler and Daryl "Moose" Johnston will be on the call yet again.
