Bucs Place Rising LB On IR

Bucs lose SirVocea Dennis to IR, missing four games minimum
Transcript

Through the first month of the season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have found a trio of linebackers that have been working wonders for them. With Lavonte David heading the group, K.J. Britt and SirVocea Dennis have been splitting time almost evenly at the opposite LB spot.

It was Tuesday afternoon that the Bucs’ released the news that they placed Dennis on injured reserve, meaning he’ll miss four games at minimum. The full extent of his shoulder injury isn’t disclosed, but we should expect he has a chance to return this season, as the team hasn’t considered it a “season-ending” injury.

With Dennis missing multiple games in his rookie year, he got off to a slower start and was a contributor to the special teams unit in 2023. Now, he’s off to a hot start, with his sideline-to-sideline speed on full display, SirVocea has amassed 22 total tackles and even a sack in the first game of the season vs. Washington.

It was early on in week four’s match-up with Philadelphia that Dennis went down after a hard collision. Gripping his shoulder, he didn’t return to the game. The following morning, head coach Todd Bowles gave an update on the budding linebacker, saying Dennis injured his shoulder “pretty bad”.

Tampa Bay signed Kalen DeLoach to it’s practice squad after Sterling Shepard was signed to the active roster and opened up a practice squad slot.

K.J. Britt, who was splitting about 50% of snaps with Dennis, should see an increased role and more snaps per game. He has played well, but will have the opportunity to improve with Dennis out.
