Less than 24 hours until kick-off of the week four Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles match-up. Although DeVonta Smith, Antoine Winfield Jr., and other players have been ruled out this weekend, the likelihood of injured players playing on Sunday is becoming more solidified.
In addition to yesterday’s official injury report, team’s are now confirming statuses on players who were listed questionable:
On Tampa Bay’ injury front, it has been made official that right tackle Luke Goedeke will be out for a third game with a concussion. Goedeke’s absence has been felt as Baker Mayfield has been sacked twelve times in the two week’s he’s been without his right tackle, while this Bucs running game has averaged league lows.
To add fuel to the fire, running back Rachaad White has been added to the injury report with an illness and is now considered questionable to play Sunday. Bucs’ rookie RB Bucky Irving has been dealing with hamstring injury and is questionable to play as well.
For the second straight week, wide receiver Sterling Shepard has been elevated from the practice squad and will be eligible to play in Sunday’s game. With rookie WR Jalen McMillan doubtful to play in an injury sustained in Friday’s practice and Kameron Johnson also questionable, Shepard very well may have chances to contribute this week.
Another practice squad move by Tampa Bay includes elevating punter Trenton Gill to the active roster. Surprisingly, starting punter Jake Camarda has been off to a rough start in 2024 and there is a visible regression in his punts so far this season. With no known injury, this move seems like Gill will have a chance to show fans what he has since his last stint in Chicago in 2023.
For the Eagles, it’s official that A.J. Brown will be OUT, meaning both their starting receivers will be out. It was last week at New Orleans that DeVonta Smith was diagnosed with a concussion, but this will mark the third game missed for Brown consecutively.
This is huge news, as it allows for the Tampa Bay defense to focus on locking down Saquon Barkley and the Eagles’ rushing attack. Even with Antoine Winfield Jr. out, defenders should be able to take advantage of Philadelphia not having their number one receiving threat and maybe even add an interception or two to the total this season.
These updates give clarity in how these teams will potentially approach this game and what they’ll need to focus on. Philadelphia will surely be trying to get Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley going on the ground early, while Tampa Bay will surely be looking at Mike Evans and Chris Godwin with the injuries to the running backs.
