It was a disappointing week for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and staff members of The 813 alike. The Bucs fell to the 0-2 Denver Broncos in front of a home crowd and in our weekly staff predictions, every last one of us took Tampa Bay to prevail over Denver.
A fresh Sunday and there's another opportunity to grab a win at home. This time against the long-term rival Philadelphia Eagles. A team the Bucs saw twice during the 2024 season, they're familiar with each other and it should be an exciting one o'clock game. With injuries impacting both teams, it's going to be interesting to see how coaches make adjustments.
Here are the full predictions for this week's Buccaneers - Eagles match-up:
JC Cornell (@CornellNFL)
Buccaneers host the Eagles at home for the first time since last seasons playoff beatdown of Philadelphia. Both teams have a laundry list of injuries but the most significant will be the Bucs starting RT, Luke Goedeke. The loss of Goedeke the last three weeks has caused major pain for Baker Mayfield.
The Buccaneers must contain Saquon Barkley to have any chance in this game. The return of Vita Vea will help. The Buccaneers defense must force Jalen Hurts into a couple turnovers.

Samer Ali (@TheSamerAli)
The Bucs wake up call last week against the Broncos was the needed kick in the ass this team needed heading into a massive matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles. With the return of Vita, the Bucs are able to establish some much missing physicality in the trenches on defense, and at the right time; with Barkley and the Eagles coming to town with nearly 400 rushing yards in 3 weeks. The Bucs are able to contain the Eagles on the ground, while forcing Jalen Hurts to be the hero, without his weapons down the field. Zyon and the secondary have themselves a day. Liam is able to get Baker and the offense back on track with Mike Evans returning to focus for the offense. A couple of Hurts turnovers and a more focused quick-hitting Bucs offense lead the Bucs to a sloppy but big win.
Bucs 24- Eagles 16
Rock Riley (@realrockriley)
Baker Mayfield gets back to being 2024 Baker Mayfield. Sense a feeling at One Buc that after last week's loss, it was a wake up call to the team. With the Eagles Devonta Smith out and A.J. Brown questionable, Jalen Hurts will have to rely too much on Saquon Barkley. Todd Bowles will have this defense fired up. The Bucs get a close win over the Birds.
Bucs 23 - Eagles 21
James Yarcho (@JYarcho_BUCS)
The Bucs appear to be trending in the right direction when it comes to player injuries while the Eagles will be without DeVonta Smith at the very least and A.J. Brown is questionable to return from his hamstring injury. With the sole focus of the front seven being put on shutting down Saquon Barkley, the secondary is going to have a strong day. Zyon McCollum gets his second interception of the season while Tykee Smith gets the first of his career and the Bucs continue to give Jalen Hurts problems.
Bucs 23 - Eagles 17
Maura Carey (@mauracareyNFL)
The Eagles come in hot, but without A.J. Brown and Devonta Smith, the offense falls short. Tampa Bay bounces back after a tough Week 3 outing, dropping 27-6 to the Broncos. Baker Mayfield and Mike Evans reconnect, while Chris Godwin continues a strong start to the season. It’s a close one, but the Buccaneers come out on top.
Bucs 23 - Eagles 20

The Bucs look to bounce back after last week's let down. While the NFL is comprised of professionals, talent is talent, and injuries continued to play a factor in our performance. After maybe Tristan Wirfs worst game of his career I expect Tampa's OL to come out strong allowing our offense to develop a rhythm early. The variable that concerns me the most is our defense.
Without Winfield it feels like Bowles reverted back to his signature bend but don't break style of play but without Vea or Kancy to generate any type of pass rush the downside of that philosophy is you can get absolutely picked apart which is exactly what's happened over the last 2 weeks giving up 815 yards of offense. Getting Vea back potentially is a positive but at this point I'd rather he sit another week and get closer to 100% vs further injury.
Even with the injuries Philly is facing I think the Eagles are able to move the ball and force our offense to keep us in this game but ultimately falling short on late field goal. My SGP is Eagles ML, Chris Godwin and Jalen Hurts ATD +950
Eagles 26 - Bucs 23
Jaret Rojas (@RojasTalksTampa)
Tampa Bay’s wake-up call will prove to snap the offense back into shape. With Luke Goedeke out and Jalen McMillan doubtful, Liam Coen will be forced to get Mike Evans and Chris Godwin involved early. In a game where Baker Mayfield will have to make big plays for this team to win, it doesn’t look like the Bucs’ running game will not be making a huge jump this week. Both Rachaad White and Bucky Irving are questionable to play and even if they’re able to suit up, it won’t be at 100%.
Philadelphia missing WR’s DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown is huge for Todd Bowles and this Bucs’ defense. They’ll have opportunities to focus on stopping Saquon Barkley and blitzing Jalen Hurts will no true number one receiver out there for the Eagles. It’s not going to be easy in that hot Florida sun, but I think the Bucs bounce back and put some points on the board early.

Last Week, the Bucs fell into that “trap” game and hopefully, it was the wake up call this team needed.
The Buccaneers are looking healthier as guys like starting RT Luke Goedeke and DT Vita Vea have been trending in the right direction towards playing on Sunday, and if that holds, that will be a huge boost for the team going into this game vs the Eagles.
Offensively, Baker bounces back in a big way after “seeing ghosts” in the last two weeks. After taking 7 sacks vs the Broncos, Baker put some of the blame on his own shoulders, and he also emphasized that getting guys like Mike Evans the ball is vital in getting off to a fast start. I expect Baker and Mike to connect early to set the tempo and in doing so, Rachaad White could finally start to open it up in the backfield and see his first rushing TD.
Defensively it’s simple, contain Saquon Barkley, get to Jalen Hurts early and often, and stay in your lanes. The Eagles will be without starting WR Devonta Smith (Concussion), and both WR AJ Brown (Hamstring) and T Lane Johnson (Concussion) are questionable to play so the Bucs defense has a chance to finally hit pay dirt when it comes to getting sacks on the QB.
