With the Buccaneers playing on Monday night, there are going to be plenty of Bucs fans wandering around, asking themselves what they’re supposed to do with their Sunday afternoon. Of course, you could check off plenty of things on your Honey Do list - or you could ingest even more football.
If you choose the latter, what are the top games this weekend for a Bucs fan to focus on?
Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons - 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX
Not only should this be of interest because of the division rivalry, but also because the Falcons are the Bucs’ next opponent. Of course Bucs fans will be rooting for the Seahawks to get an upset, but in all likelihood, the Falcons will be 5-2 when they travel to Tampa and holding a 3-0 record in the division, making the game all the more important.
Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings - 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX
This isn’t just good for Bucs fans, it’s good for all fans. The Lions hold the top offense in the NFL and a defense that allows just 18 points per game - but how are they going to fare without Aiden Hutchinson? Meanwhile, the Vikings are the surprise team of the NFL sitting at 5-0 and looking for their biggest upset of the season. The Bucs already beat the Lions, but they could wind up facing either one of these teams - perhaps both - in the postseason with the way things are going. This is just going to be a fun game to watch.
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Giants - 1:00 p.m. ET, FOX
Okay, this one might be a little painful - but the Giants are an upcoming opponent of the Buccaneers though not for a few weeks. Let’s not forget how many times the Bucs have lost to Giants teams they had no business losing to and you certainly don’t want them to fall into that trap again. If nothing else, you could continue to watch the downward spiral the Eagles are on while also getting the bonus of watching Malik Nabers who has been outstanding
Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Rams - 4:05 p.m. ET, CBS
While I could have gone with the Panthers and Commanders, I already recommended the Giants and Eagles and you can only watch so much bad football and laugh before you start to realize how bad it really is. This Raiders and Rams game could be a really interesting one. After trading away Davante Adams, it should be telling to see how well the offense performs without a diva’s attitude and distractions hanging over everyone’s heads. Brock Bowers has been phenomenal this season and the Raiders defense has shown flashes of competence. Meanwhile, the Rams’ defense is even more points per game than the Raiders so this could wind up being a wild shootout - especially with Cooper Kupp returning. Let’s see if subtracting an Adams and adding a Brady brings the Raiders any good fortune.
Kansas City Chiefs at San Francisco 49ers - 4:25 p.m. ET, FOX
Yeah, you knew this was coming. I already had the Falcons on the list, but here are the two teams the Bucs face after Atlanta playing one another in a Super Bowl rematch. The Chiefs’ offense has been pedestrian at best but they offer one of the best defenses in the NFL. On the other side, the 49ers are getting back Jordan Mason and wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is set to make his NFL debut after being shot in the chest a few months ago. This one is going to be quite the chess match - because the Chiefs are going to try their hardest to not allow San Fran to reach 24 points, since it seems to be a struggle these days for Mahomes and the offense to surpass that mark.
