After amassing nearly 300 yards on the ground during a historic 51-27 win over the Saints, the Buccaneers look ahead to a Monday Night Football matchup vs. the Baltimore Ravens.
Running back Bucky Irving is coming off another strong performance, and typical third-string back Sean Tucker had a breakout game with a game-high 136 rushing yards. The duo had 14 carries a piece, totaling 277 rushing and two rushing touchdowns. Irving finished the game with 81 yards on foot, averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Starting running back Rachaad White watched from the sidelines with a foot injury.
The Ravens enter the game with the No. 1 defense against the run, allowing an average of 2.9 yards per carry. Last week against the Washington Commanders, the Ravens held running back Austin Ekeler to 21 yards on nine carries, averaging 2.1 yards per carry.
On Tuesday, Irving was asked about facing off against a talented Ravens' defense and if he likes the challenge that lies ahead.
“Yeah, you always got to be up for the challenge,” said Irving. “You've got to treat every week the same [from] a preparation standpoint, and just attack it. We’re just going to go out there and compete at a high level. We’re going to see what our coaches come up with as far as the game plan and then go with that.”
With the run game finally coming into its own, Irving looks to take on the challenge full speed ahead along with Tucker and White as the Buccaneers look to improve to 5-2 on Monday night.
