The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made multiple moves to their roster on Monday. They placed outside linebacker Markees Watts on injured reserve and wide receiver Cody Thompson on the practice squad injured list. Both players suffered their injuries on Thursday Night’s game in Atlanta.
The Bucs have also re-signed wide receiver Tanner Knue to the practice squad. He was initially signed as an undrafted free agent in May out of Eastern Michigan. During the preseason he was a highlighted receiver and was even successful returning the ball.
Watts suffered a quad tear, which placed him on injured reserve, meaning he’ll miss four games minimally. He’s been a key special teams player, logging 45 snaps on special teams and ten on defense so far in 2024. This is his second year as a Buccaneer after making the roster as an undrafted rookie.
Thompson went down with a shoulder ailment after being elevated for his first game to the active roster from the practice squad. He was signed in the offseason to fight for one of the final receiver spots in training camp. After a good showing, Thompson landed on the practice squad and finally got the call in week five. He was able to return one punt for 21 yards before leaving with the shoulder injury.
