Chris Godwin Among Tom Brady's Stars Of The Week

For the second time this season, Brady shouts out a player from the Bucs as one of his stars of the week
Transcript

Tom Brady, since joining the NFL on FOX, has given out his three stars of the week. Now, for the second time this season, he’s named a Buccaneer among those players.

Chris Godwin’s 11 catch, 125 yards, two touchdown performance got him Brady’s second star behind Ravens’ running back Derrick Henry - who the Bucs will face this Monday night.

Brady said;

“My guy Chris down in Tampa had himself a day against the Saints on Sunday. 11 catches, 125 yards, and two touchdowns. Breaking tackles, running through defenders. The Bucs put up 50 in New Orleans…I never even did that. Chris leads the league in catches, he’s tied for the league lead in touchdowns. The Bucs have a huge Monday night matchup against Lamar and the Ravens. I’m excited for that one.”

Godwin didn’t just have himself a day, he’s having himself a season. He’s halfway to his first career double-digit touchdown season and only four away from his career high of nine back in 2019. He’s currently on pace for 122 receptions, 14 touchdowns, and 1,447 yards which would all be career highs.

When we said coming into the season that Liam Coen was going to put Godwin in that Cooper Kupp role from Coen’s days with the Rams, we expected a big season but I’m not sure anyone expected this kind of start to the season. Godwin is going to get paid by someone this off-season and Bucs fans need to pray that Jason Licht on John Spytek work their magic again and find a way to keep Godwin in Tampa.
