Welp... that didn’t last long.
Six weeks into the regular season, the Philadelphia Eagles have released former Tampa Bay Buccaneers linebacker Devin White, months after signing him to a one-year, $3.5 million deal.
After spending a year in Tampa hoping for more money, playing with fire one game and then simply disappearing the next, White took his talents to Philadelphia, hoping for a fresh start and the opportunity to prove he was worth a lucrative deal.
Things went South quickly. After losing the starting job during training camp to 2022 third-rounder Nakobe Dean, White was listed as a healthy scratch for the first four games of the regular season.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, the Eagles looked into trading White away during the preseason. One month later, Philadelphia cut its losses altogether and released the disgruntled linebacker.
The question is, where does White go now?
Before any Buccaneers fans have the lightbulb go off in their head, White is not coming back to wear the Red and Pewter. The disconnect was shown last season, and the message was sent: White wanted out, and the Bucs don't want him back.
Where and who he decides to sign with next is left to be seen.
