Rakim Jarrett Returns To Practice, Amongst Other Moves

Bucs make handful of roster changes as practice week begins
Transcript

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have designated wide receiver Rakim Jarrett to return from injury reserve and open up his 21-day practice window to return after being placed on IR with an undisclosed injury. Jarrett should serve as a solid depth piece, as the Bucs have been dealing with injuries to their receiving corps. He can be activated at any point within that three-week window.

Jarrett made the Buccaneers’ roster as an undrafted free agent in 2023 and was a contributor to the special teams unit. He played in ten games, totaling four receptions for 60 yards.

All signs point to the receiver being able to return, although there has been no update on what his injury is or the severity. If he weren’t able to return in the 21-day window, he would have to remain out for the remainder of the season, according to league guidelines.

Additional moves Tampa Bay has made official include:

Officially signing cornerback Keenan Isaac to the active roster, after spending four weeks on the practice squad. With Jamel Dean now dealing with a hamstring injury, this Bucs’ secondary will have their depth tested.

Isaac has bounced around between both the Panthers’ roster and Tampa Bay’s early in 2024, after spending 2023 as a member of this Bucs’ team. He now finds himself in a position to see key snaps, whether it be on special teams or in the secondary on this Todd Bowles’ defense.

The team also announced the signing of WR Marquez Callaway and CB Dallis Flowers to their practice squad.

Callaway is a 26 year old receiver and a familiar face in the NFC South. After spending nearly four seasons on the New Orleans Saints, The former University of Tennessee standout finds himself with an opportunity to impress coaches and potentially become a member of the active roster if the injury woes continue.

For Flowers, he’s in his third NFL season, after making the Colts’ roster as an undrafted free agent in 2022. He began the 2024 season as a starter for the Indianapolis Colts defense, but after lackluster performances in his expanded role, the team waived him earlier in the week.

Flowers also joins the practice squad in hopes that his energy and attentiveness at practice will turn Tampa Bay coaches into believers and that they can trust him if his number is called upon.
